Apophysis 2.09 Editor missing parts of the interface

Postby bill2reg » Thu Jan 05, 2012 1:00 pm

I just installed Apophysis yesterday. First I installed 2.02 and then downloaded the 2.09 update and placed it in the same folder (Programs(x86)) as the 2.02 executable. It all works, except that when I open the editor (view>editor or click the editor button), the editor window opens OK, with the area to add triangles, etc. and a small preview window in the upper right corner. Below that window, however, is only a list of variations, partially visible because it's obscured by a small dialogue box that says "Transform" and under it "Weight". The other tabs that should be there are not there. I have reinstalled it twice, but still no change. I can't move or close the transform box, and I can't see the entire list of variables, because there isn't even the normal windows scroll bar present. Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), Intel Core i7 6 core processor @3.2GHz, 12GB RAM, 2TB HD. Note: the same files were used to install 2.02 and 2,09 on another computer in the house (same system specs) and it works fine. In fact, that's why I know that part of my editor interface is messed up and missing, because it's there on the other computer.

Any help or ideas are welcome. Thanks

Apophysis 2.09 isn't an "update" to 2.02, it's a replacement. You don't really need to download 2.02. Replace the desktop shortcut, or change it's properties so that it points to Apophysis-2.09.exe, and don't run the old Apophysis.exe.

Hi Mark. Thanks for the prompt reply. I've completely uninstalled 2.02 and downloaded 2.09. The same issue. It runs OK, but the editor screen has parts missing. I did a screen save and the link is below. If it asks for a password use apop123.

I don't know if this is the best way to show you an image, but if you are able to see it, you will see what I mean. There is no way for me to close or move that box that says "Transform" and "Weight". It doesn't do anything, doesn't close, or move. It doesn't matter if I move the divider under the preview window up or down either. I can't see the top of the list of variations, nor are any of the other tabs there, such as the color gradient, etc. I have no clue why it works on the other computer and not on this one. As I said in the original post, the systems are the same. Thanks again.

Still no solution: Broken editor 2.09

Postby bill2reg » Sat Jan 28, 2012 6:49 am

I have tried everything I can think of. I tried downloading 2.09 with Internet Explorer and Firefox, via LAN and wireless net, on both Win7homeprem(64bit) desktop, and Vista homeprem laptop. I made certain that these were all new, fresh downloads. But every time I run the program, and go to the editor window, there is only the "transform" tab present, and there is a partially viewable list of variations, because part of it is obscured by the box that says "Transform" and the "Weight" entry below it, and part of the list disappears up and behind the preview window. I have resized the preview as well as the entire editor, but no change. I've tried left and right clicking, escape key, etc. all to no avail. Yet, on the other desktop, also Win7 homeprem(64 bit) and downloaded over the same wireless modem, it works fine. If I had hair I'd be pulling it out by now! Any ideas why this is happening would be welcome.

Here is a screenshot.

Hi, I am having EXACTLY the same problem. Everything else works fine but everytime I open the editor it has that transform weight box that I can't move. I never realised it was a glitch until I tried a tutorial and noticed that the version I was running appeared EXTREMELY different. I have gotten really frustrated with it particularly since all my troubleshooting seems to be a waste of time. I am running an AMD Dual Core Compaq Presario so our systems are different but I tried it on my other computer (from the same Apophysis file saved on my computer) and it worked fine so it doesnt seem to be an issue with download or download process at all.
I am trying a couple of other things but my main concern is that it may be a hardware issue with the system either video card or motherboard. I am going to replace the video card and see if anything changes.
I'll keep you posted :)

I use Apophysis since several years. I wanted to install it on my new computer (Windows 7). I downloaded it... but it seems install nothing, except the file apophysis.rand. So, it runs... but I can't save anything, several files are missing... What is wrong ???
I begin with W7 (I had XP before), I may have mistakes... but what ???
Thank you if you can explain what I have to do...

ONE FIX FOR THIS ISSUE:
I had the same issue, and then discovered that I had my (windows) desktop font size set to "large." Also, I had the screen resolution set kind of low (I have vision problems). Apoph is a bit fussy about such things, alas. However, I then reset the font size to the default (96 dpi for Vista, "Smaller" for Win 7) -- and, for good measure, reset the resolution higher (at least 1024 x 768 for my particular monitor) -- and the problem was solved.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Use your mouse to stretch the Editor window wider.
