How to Maximize the size of *.png rendered in Apo?

Postby Pontigary » Thu Mar 31, 2011 3:59 pm

Dear friends, please tell me what is the maximum size of *.png files that one can render in Apo 7X with flam3 engine.
Sometimes I "ask" it to make a rather big file (>20 mpix) and after say 20 - 30 hrs of rendering I have a *.bmp with its poor quality and inability to be postprocessed for print. I want to know the maximum possible size (Mpix or MB) of *.PNG beforehand.
Or does it depend on RenderQuality I use or the PC configuration (say, amount of RAM) though I have 16GB DDR3 on Intel Core2 Quad?
Thank You in advance,
Anthony.

I seem to recall that flam3 can't access above a certain amount of RAM. You could try the following method:

Perhaps aim to keep strip memory requirement < 2GB, such that if your total render requires 4.5GB, you'll need at least 3 strips.
